Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to store winter tires?

The best approach depends on your space and budget. We recommend storing tires in individual bags on a wall-mounted rack in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. Tires should be cleaned, deflated to 15 PSI, and labeled with their wheel position before storage.

Should I store tires vertically or horizontally?

Tires without rims should be stored vertically (standing upright) and rotated monthly. Tires mounted on rims can be stacked horizontally or hung from hooks. This prevents deformation of the tire bead and sidewall over extended periods.

Can I store tires in an unheated garage?

Yes, but with precautions. Extreme temperature swings can accelerate rubber degradation. Use tire bags to protect against moisture and UV light. Ideally, keep storage temperatures between 15-20°C (59-68°F) and humidity under 50%.

How long do winter tires last in storage?

With proper storage, winter tires can last 6-10 years from their manufacture date. However, most tire manufacturers recommend replacing tires after 6 years regardless of tread depth due to rubber compound aging.

Are your printable labels free?

Absolutely! Our printable tire labels are completely free. Visit our Guides & Tips page to download them. They include fields for wheel position, date, tread depth, tire size, and notes.
